GCWR is dedicated to providing care for sick, injured and orphaned Gulf Coast of Mississippi wildlife in need of assistance and to promoting the value and importance of preserving the Gulf Coast of Mississippi wildlife and its habitat to the public under a permit from the Department of Fish, Game and Wildlife, of the State of Mississippi. This mission includes but is not limited to:
> education, research and rehabilitation intended to promote the preservation of the environment,
> technical assistance to individuals and groups holding in custody wildlife in need of medical or other treatment,
> to organize and assist wildlife and science programs in the community,
> and to respond to wildlife crisis situations with trained volunteers.
GULF COAST WILDLIFE REHAB (GCWR) IS A WILDLIFE REHABILITATION GROUP LOCATED ON THE GULF COAST OF MISSISSIPPI.
Two Veterinarian Technicians saw the need to provide medical and supportive care for sick, injured and orphaned Gulf Coast wildlife, with a goal of returning healthy individuals back into their natural habitat. Also to disseminate information to the public in order to foster and understanding of wildlife that will lead to the preservation of Gulf Coast wildlife and the ecosystem. Our current volunteers are trained in the rehabilitation and release of various species to include: squirrels, raccoons, opossums, armadillos, turtles, deer, beavers, otters and various non-migrating/migrating birds.
Due to current lack of proper facilities, various migrating birds are temporary treated and housed until able to transfer to proper wildlife rehabilitation groups.
GCWR is recognized by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c) 3 tax exempt organization, allowing donations to GCWR to be tax deductible as allowed by law.
